No More Plain Pancakes

Do you find pancake as a plain breakfast? Here's an idea I've got when we checked in at Waterfront Hotel in U.N Avenue, Manila last Saturday and we had our breakfast there before we checked out on Sunday:  you can add nutritional value to your pancakes by putting some square-cut mangoes and to balance the taste, you can also put some strawberry jam and also butter. You can also think of other fruits that will match the taste or some toppings you would really love and enjoy.

Bon appettit!

Pistachio Ice Cream

Do you love ice cream? Who doesn't love it?

I love ice cream especially with these flavors:  avocado, cookies and cream, and gabi (taro in English). Those are just my top three ice cream flavor favorites.

But when i tasted pistachio ice cream, i guess i have another favorite. Pistachio ice cream tastes good and it's a little bit minty.

How about you? Have you tasted pistachio ice cream? If you haven't and you want to taste it, you can visit Pret A' Manger-The Pearl Manila hotel  in  General  Luna, in front of Emilio Aguinaldo College near U.N Avenue, Manila or you make your own.

Here's how to make it:

1) Finely grind 1 cup of pistachios and 1/4 of sugar in food processor or blender.

2) Boil milk and ground pistachio mixture in a large pan.

3) Remove from heat.

4) Mix in almond extract.

5) Whisk egg yolks and remaining 1/3 cup sugar in medium boil.

6) Gradually heat in hot milk mixture.

7) Return custard to saucepan. Cook over low heat until custard thickens and leaves path on back of spoon when finger is drawn across, stirring constantly, about 10 minutes (do not boil).

8) Strain into large bowl. Chill until cold, about 2 hours.

9) Stir 1 cup whipping cream and chopped pistachios into custard,

10) Process mixture in ice cream maker according to manufacturer's instructions.

11) Transfer to a container.

12) Freeze (ice cream can be prepared 3 days ahead).

Thanks to epicurious.com for this recipe. I will make one in the future.

My mood today? Well, I miss Malaysia. But here are some tastes of Malaysian food to give me a good memory of my travel there last 2013. Most food there are spicy. Although I'm not a fan of spicy food, I've learned to appreciate them when i traveled to Malaysia. Sorry, i forgot their names but they taste good and sad to say, i wasn't able to take pictures of every food i ate there but at least, here are some few...
